Started by Dr. Shaun Carpenter in 2010, ATS was designed to create a platform to standardize available telemedicine technology, and deliver
the best possible services through the formation of the industry’s most exceptional network of certified telemedical providers. Recognizing and
implementing a successful model for Wound Care via telemedicine, Dr. Carpenter created TeleWound, a system by which homebound patients could receive specialized
wound care using live videoconferencing in the home setting. Dr. Carpenter then realized that many other medical specialties were appropriate for the technology,
and created ATS to fill the multidisciplinary needs of the patients.
The ATS executive team includes professionals from the medical, technology, entertainment, and management fields. Such a diversity of talent is rare in the healthcare industry, but required in a leading-edge telemedical firm.
Shaun R. Carpenter, MD, FAPWCA, Founder/Chairman
Dr. Shaun Carpenter is the founder of the Company as well as its Co-Medical Director. He serves as Medical Director for Wound Care Associates as well as a board certified Emergency Medicine physician. Dr. Carpenter has an extensive background in emergency medical services, wound care medicine, and telemedicine. He is a member of the American Telemedicine Association and currently performs telemedical consults in the area of wound care management via TeleWound.
Dr. Carpenter was a double major at the University of California, Berkley, with Bachelors Degrees in Molecular/Cell Biology and English Literature. Dr. Carpenter graduated from the Tulane School of Medicine as a Medical Doctor.
Francis James, Director of Operations
Mr. Francis James is the Company’s Director of Operations. Mr. James is an award winning producer, director, cinematographer, and owner of Perception films, who has made film, television and new media in the national media industry for over two decades. In this capacity, he is an expert in the dynamic system of media creation, and the critical role of image quality in portraying objects, people, and events.
His experiences led him to the realization that while there are mechanisms in place in the movie industry to ensure effective image reproduction, these parameters are sorely lacking in the telemedicine industry. The main issue is that medical personnel are now being expected to perform the duties of media professionals, in addition to their primary roles as physicians. Mr. James graduated with a BFA in Film from the Philadelphia College of Art.
Charles D. Muntan, MD, MS, FACEP, Co-Medical Director
Dr. Charles Muntan serves as Co-Medical Director of the Company. He is currently the Medical Director and a board certified Emergency Medicine physician at Lakeview Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department. His leadership experience includes Vice Chief of Staff and Medical Director at Lakeview, Vice Chairman of LERN Commission Board, President of LSUEM Alumni Association, and Chief Resident during EM residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. He is also working with Wound Care Associates as a wound care physician.
Dr. Muntan graduated from the University of Louisville’s School of Medicine as a Medical Doctor and he also holds a Masters Degree in Biology and Anatomical Neurosciences from the University of Louisville. Dr. Muntan’s a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Todd Shaffett, NP, Director of Clinical Services
Mr. Todd Shaffett is the Director of Clinical Services at the Company. He is currently the manager of Key Home Health Care and a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner at Key Home Health Care and Wound Care Associates. Mr. Shaffett has an extensive management and practitioner background in wound care medicine and home health care. He is a member of the American Telemedicine Association and currently performs telemedical consults in the area of wound care management.
Mr. Shaffett holds a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of South Alabama.
Aaron M. Wolfson, PhD, CRC, CLCP, Director of TeleMental Health
Dr. Aaron Wolfson is the Director of TeleMental Health for ATS. A Native of New Orleans, Dr. Wolfson is a licensed psychologist in LA and MS, and trained at the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as the University of Washington Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and the Department of Rehabilitation Psychology. He specializes in the assessment and treatment of adults with physical disabilities and chronic pain. Dr. Wolfson has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient treatment, and oversees the recruitment, training, and quality control for ATS mental health providers. Dr. Wolfson performs telemental health assessment and treatment through Jefferson NeuroBehavioral Group.
David Murdock, MD, Director of TelePsych
Dr. David Murdock is a board certified psychiatrist currently practicing in the New Orleans area. Dr. Murdock had extensive experience treating psychiatric patients via telemedicine with the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Texas after Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Murdock completed his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, during which time he received dual training in neurology as well.
Todd B. Dean, MBA
Mr. Todd Dean serves on the board of Advisors for Advanced Telemedical Services. He currently serves as the President and CEO of Quality Mechanical in Mandeville, Louisiana, one of the area’s largest mechanical contracting companies. Mr. Dean’s background includes executive level management in the services sector as well as in internet based training. He led the team that developed a proprietary software system for internet based training and that offered the first internet based real estate training courses in the state of Louisiana. Under Mr. Dean’s leadership, the company developed a multi-state presence.
Mr. Dean holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communication and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. He is currently enrolled as a PhD student at Louisiana State University studying Human Resource Development.
